Mt. Fuji / Lake / Sailboat / Pavillion

The theme pictured above is the second most common theme for the carved design on these boxes. There are always the same four elements. The volcanic mountain has striking symmetry, which identifies it as Mt. Fuji. There is a sailboat, under way on a lake or some other type of body of water. Finally, on the shore of the lake, there is an open pavillion structure with a roof and some vertical supports.

We can't help but think that this design represents a specific location, probably a tourist destination, where these boxes were sold as souvenirs. If anyone is able to identify this location, please let us know.

The picture above shows the box top and a coaster of a coaster set.
